INSERTS FOR PLASTICS
Threaded inserts are widely used in plastic components and most of these inserts are made of brass, which provides long thread life and solid fastening base. These brass inserts are designed to improve the strength of assemblies by distributing forces from the screw over a bigger area in the base material, hence increasing their load bearing capability.
When selecting the type of threaded inserts, the deciding factors will be the type of plastic used (Thermoplastic or Thermoset plastic) and the method of installation available at the point of assembly. The correct application of these inserts will result in reduced scrap rate and increased production.
